HOW TO KNOW WHEN YOUR TYRES NEED CHANGING
Your tread depth cannot get below 1.5 mm across the width of the tread- this is the legal limit. When the tyre is worn to the legal limit the bars will be flush with the just the surface of the tread. While 1.5 mm is the legal limit, certain car manufacture advise that you change your tyres before they wear to that extent.
TYPES OF TYRES
Summer Tyres- Made with a distinct tread pattern for maximum performance on both dry and wet roads when the air temperature is higher than +7°C.
Winter Tyres- Made to work best in conditions lower than +7°C, so even in wet and icy whether, you’ll benefit from their optimal grip and handling.
All Season Tyres- Combine characteristics of summer tyres and winter tyres to reap benefits of both so that they can be used all-year round.
Run Flat Tyres- Have much thicker, reinforced sidewalls, meaning they can be driven on for a short while after getting a puncture.
4×4 Tyres- Have a tread pattern that is more widely spaced than normal car tyres and have a bigger tread block and less shallow tyre grooves. This means the tyres to get an intesified grip on tough terrain.
